Overview:

The employee will provide teaching, curriculum, and classroom management duties, including day-to-day workings of the programs and positions below, as well as teaching and working within the programs as their supervisor requires. Employees will be responsible for significant communication and connection between the Administration and Faculty regarding programming and deployment. 

Objectives of this position include but are not limited to: 

  • Build foundational English programming that encourages skill development toward college or vocation
  • Exemplify Christ in and through the teaching of science
  • Coordinate with faculty and staff to provide the best possible programming for CCA students

Key Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Planning for and teaching a block 7-8th grade ELA class in cooperation with current staff.
  • Planning for and teaching 9th-12th grade ELA class in cooperation with current staff.  
  • Assist with assigned duties and learning lab responsibilities as scheduled
  •  Working with other teachers and administrators to ensure state standards are met, and student proficiency is increased
  •  Adhering to requirements of accreditation as needed
  • Understanding the spiritual dynamics and incorporating the gospel and/or Christian principals
  • Model Christian character at all times, actively promoting the educational philosophy of Central Christian Academy.
  • Responsible for working with students navigating academic, social, personal, and spiritual growth. 
  • Develop and maintain an orderly classroom atmosphere conducive to learning that uses consistent, kind, and firm discipline.  
  • Understand and follow mandatory reporting requirements. 
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Organize and develop successful learning experiences per the school’s curriculum and philosophy, emphasizing biblical integration and employing various teaching methods.
  • Take reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Communicate promptly and openly with parents, arranging additional parent conferences as needed and annual parent conferences.   
  • Maintain accurate and current student progress and attendance records.
  • Utilize methods of evaluating student progress that are compatible with the school’s grading philosophy. 
  • Maintain an up-to-date lesson plan set that provides adequate direction for a substitute teacher in the event of absence and submit a copy appropriately to the building administrator.
  • Attend and participate in faculty In-Service and grade-level meetings and other school functions, such as open house events.
  • Adhere to and assist in upholding and enforcing the school’s rules, regulations, and policies as recorded in the employee, faculty, and student handbooks or transmitted through the administrators. 
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Perform non-teaching and extra-curricular duties as requested and assigned.
  • Maintain proper teacher certification by ACSI and state accreditation agencies, demonstrating self-motivated professional development.
  • Continue to remain current with updates in technology and technological resources.
  • Other duties as assigned

Teachers must establish and nurture positive relationships as they teach and disciple students. They will work closely with colleagues, parents, school administrators, and community members, always showing kindness and respect.  

Qualified teachers demonstrate professional discernment, good judgment, and the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues tactfully and professionally. The teacher must set a Godly example that honors the school’s standards and expectations. The ability to address concerns and offer suggestions appropriately and confidentially must also be evident.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in education or a related area is required.
  • Completion of Transition to Teaching certificate 
  • Valid Indiana or ACSI teaching certification/license with appropriate subject matter endorsements from the State of Indiana (or eligible for licensure) 
  • Practical teaching experience is highly desired.
